Coloured diamonds are extremely rare; so much so that for every 10,000 carats that are mined, a mere one carat may possess fancy colour.

For more than 35 years, fancy coloured diamonds as a whole have outperformed virtually every other traditional tangible asset we can think of. Not only have they hardly seen a decrease in their value or price during that period, they have also exhibited exceptional growth and hedge performance, having consistently risen several percentage points over the annual inflation rate.

All around the world investors are waking up to the potential of rare coloured diamonds. It is not just well collectors who have an increased interest and appetite for these diamonds, the global jewellery industry continues to offer its strong support. In fact, in the last 5 years, the full range of fancy coloured diamonds have seen price increases of at least 10% to 35% per year, with some individual stones appreciating as much as 50% to 100% in certain 12 month periods.
